REVAMPED KNOKKE TOURIST OFFICE

REVAMPED KNOKKE TOURIST OFFICE PLACES GREATER EMPHASIS ON OVERALL EXPERIENCE THAN EVER BEFORE

After months of challenging and hard work, Knokke-Heist's municipal council is proud to unveil the newly revamped Knokke Tourist Office to the general public. The renovated welcome space places exclusive emphasis on creating a unique and personalised experience, playing more of an essential role than ever in welcoming visitors in the best possible way, while at the same time reinforcing everything the municipality has to offer.

A LOCAL STORY AT THE HEART OF IT ALL

For this renovation, tremendous care was taken to provide visitors with a high-quality, respectful, friendly, engaging and future-proof experience – all while keeping safety, ergonomics and comfort in mind. And of course, the local story of Knokke-Heist has also been given pride of place, both literally and figuratively, around the info desk. The new Knokke-Heist logo has been beautifully incorporated into the floor, with the region's five districts depicted as individual rays of sunshine, emanating from the central info desk that represents the setting sun.

EXPERIENCE CORNERS

Discover four experience corners, filled with gastronomic delights, beautiful nature, shopping and world-class art. In the 'Nature Corner', visitors can map out their favourite cycling and walking routes and discover the Zwin Nature Park, while the little ones can play in the sand. The 'Fashion Corner', designed by talented visual merchandisers, is always decked out with the latest fashion trends, straight from the catwalk.

Currently, you can marvel at window dresser Gillian Vanhoenacker's Bloom exhibition. On one side, you have APM Monaco's eye-catching jewellery display, with balloons and hearts inspired by the iconic Studio 54 era. You will also discover the delightful, naturally intense Guerlain fragrances. And last but not least is the silk dress by Belgian fashion house Scapa, inspired by the paintings of artist Joan Mitchell and the book ‘The Land Gardeners: Cut Flowers’ by Bridget Elworthy and Henrietta Courtauld.

In Knokke-Heist, you can find art installations in the most unexpected locations. Why not get to know all these urban artworks in the 'Art Corner'? There you can also purchase some high-brow merchandise. Finally, we have the 'Gastronomy Corner', where you can discover delicious local Zwin produce, complete with a show-cooking area for use during events. To help this project see the light of day, Knokke-Heist teamed up with specialised interior design company Buro Modern from Waregem. In this highly professional and sustainable collaboration, Knokke-Heist set an example by incurring the smallest possible carbon footprint.

SUPPORTED BY THE PROVINCE OF WEST FLANDERS

This project came about thanks to the support of the Province of West Flanders, under their ‘Beleef West-Vlaanderen’ (Experience West Flanders) tourism scheme. Westtoer subsidised half of the experience, granting a maximum €100,000. For the renovation of the info desk, the local municipality provided a total budget of €250,000.

This Christmas, come and discover Knokke's newly revamped tourist office!

The Tourist Office is open daily between 9.30am and 5.00pm. On 24 and 31 December 2023, it will close at 4.00pm, and it will be shut on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
